Perfect Evening
This is how my husband proposed to me…
He took me to dinner at Elephant and Castle on our one year anniversary. A friend recommended the restaurant to us and it was a great choice. After dinner, my husband drove us back to his house, which was filled with Macintosh apple-scented candles. He turned off the lights and played our song, “The Long and Winding Road” (Beatles) on his violin.
After playing the song, he went over to his bureau and took out a Christmas ornament of Eeyore, which is something I collect. The engagement ring was on the string part of the ornament. When he got closer to me, he dropped to one knee, took both of my hands in his and said “Michelle, will you be my wife?” This was in Russian because he was born and raised in Moscow, and I told him that if he were to ask me to marry him, it had better be asked in Russian or I would say no.
I replied “da” (yes in Russian) to his question. He then removed the ring from the ornament, and placed it on my finger.
