A Puzzle Suprise…

My friend got engaged a few years ago, and this is her story.

She and her boyfriend had been together a couple of years but they had never talked about marriage.  During her senior year of college, she was walking back from class when some random stranger ran up to her holding a huge bunch of balloons.  She didn’t know what to do, but the stranger ran away!  She noticed that there was a note attached that said “You complete me”.  Thinking, gosh, that’s a little corny, but so sweet, she just brought them back to her dorm room.

There, she noticed that there was something rattling around in each balloon.  She figured out that they were puzzle pieces and popped the balloons to get them out.  Once she got all the pieces out, she put the puzzle together.  When she finished, she had put together a picture of her boyfriend holding a sign that said “Will you marry me?”  (It was one of those make-it-yourself puzzle kits that he had personalized with that photo.)  Her boyfriend was already standing by her door holding a ring as she turned around.

And she said YES!  :-)   And they lived happily ever after.

A Baseball Game Engagement…

My friend got engaged in a really unique way.  She was a big baseball fan so her now husband took her to an Astros game in Houston.  She couldn’t figure out why her boyfriend was acting so nervous.  From the time he picked her up he was acting weird.

They went inside the stadium they went to take their seats- pretty good ones, too!  Much better than their usual nosebleed seats.  They got some popcorn, some hot dogs, and a couple of beers and settled in.

It wasn’t a particularly exciting game but he wouldn’t let her leave her seat.  He knew what was coming up.  So when the time of the game when the “kiss cam” came around she still didn’t know what was going on except that one of the camera guys had seem to target them for that portion of it.  When the actual segment came on other people kissed and they were cued to go and kiss- she went in and he stopped her, falling to his knee and presenting her with the ring.  Everyone at the stadium saw her accept and start crying.  I don’t think they even remember the score to the game.
