An Easter Idea…

With Easter coming up right around the corner, what I think would be sweet and romantic would be to put together an Easter basket for the woman you love.

Make sure you have some candy (Expensive like Godiva) and perhaps a nice piece of jewelry.   I’d make sure to have some Easter Eggs in the basket.  Make them the plastic kind that you might put candy in for kids.  Have a ceramic Easter egg that opens and put the ring in there.  I’d have small clues to what’s going on all through the basket.  Keep her guessing but make it romantic and fun.

In the bottom of the basket under the grass, put some fun items for brides to be.  Make them things to help her plan your special day and the beginning of your time together as husband and wife.  Knowing that you are as excited as she is and looking forward to your special day as much is she is will mean the world to her.

An Unexpected Engagement…

My husband and I moved in together before we were married or even engaged.

His mother was very concerned about the situation, and would often talk to him about the decision.  After these conversations he would jokingly say, “do you know how we could fix the problem?”.  Wearing a bemused smile I would reply, “Are you asking?”.  But he would very quickly say, “No!”.  He would go on to describe these big elaborate proposals he had seen, and tell me he was planning something big.  (My husband was born planning out his life, it’s just who he is).  I warned him that if he kept pretend proposing I would never believe him when he really did pop the question.  But he assured me that I would know, because he would have the ring.

One Saturday morning, I woke up with a bad cold.  He let me sleep in, then came into the bedroom to rub my back and bring me some hot tea.  His mother had called and he started up again, “You know how we could fix this problem?”.  Playing my part I replied, “Are you asking?”.  Suddenly his hands were shaking as he continued to rub my back, and he squeaked out, “Unh-huh”.  I whipped around and blurted out, “Shut up!  No you’re not, wheres the ring?”.He got down on one knee, made the official ask, and we picked out the ring together on our way to Disneyland to celebrate the happy occasion.

To this day, it is the only thing my husband didn’t plan out, which is what made simple so special.
