A Grand Canyon Road Trip
We were taking a road trip from Chicago to San Diego where we spent each night in a different town. My fiance arranged to have the ring shipped to the town where we would be spending the night in Colorado. The next day he pretended to need gas in the car and left me in the hotel room while he went and picked up the ring.
He then decided that we needed to make it to the grand canyon before sunset on that day. We drove quickly and without stopping in order to make it there before sunset. Once there, we stopped to look at the big hole in the ground. Neither of us had been there before. He looked around for about 5 seconds and said “hmm, this is nice, let’s go!”.
I was confused but followed him away from the hole and rest of the tourist to a remote area behind some bushes and very close to the edge of the canyon. He then pretended to kneel down to look at some “weird ants” on the ground. By the time I caught up with him, he had pulled out the box out of his pocket and opened it and said “sweetie, will you marry me”.
I was in real shock. I accepted and we both started crying. It had been a long day, and it was getting more difficult for him to keep the box in his pocket without me knowing about it. We’ve been married 2 years now and every time we fly over the Canyon, I think of that day.
