Classic Christmas Engagement

I remember when my older sister and her boyfriend started talking about one day getting married. He would ask her all kinds of questions and she him.

One day he came to our house while she was at work and asked to talk to my mother and myself. He asked us if we would help him to surprise my sister, we gladly agreed to help. I got one of her rings to get a size for him, mom gave him some ideas as to what kind of ring my sister would like, since her favorite was blackhills gold.

Then he went an bought one that he hoped she would like. It was near Christmas, so he decided to wrap it like all her other presents, with a slight difference, he wrapped it then put that into a little larger box and wrapped it, then repeated that again. We had all planned to go to our grandparents place up north to celebrate Christmas that year.

After a wonderful dinner we all sat down to exchange and open gifts. My soon to be brother-in-law held his gift till last, when everyone else was finished he pulled out his gift for my sister. The reason this story stays in everyone’s mind was because of the Rudolph song that was playing on the radio when she opened, and opened, and finally opened the final gift box and he got on his knee in front of her and as she opened the jewelery box he asked her to marry him. It was a wonderful and beautiful time for them both and we all got to share it with them.
