Reading Little Notes

A great way to propose is to celebrate the entire relationship. I know a friend whose boyfriend (now husband!) wrote little notes about the most important events in their relationship. This included things like their first date, their first vacation together, when they bought a puppy together and any other significant days in their life together.

He then put these notes throughout their apartment – each beside a vanilla candle and either a red or yellow rose (to symbolize love and friendship). He took her out to dinner, they drank some nice wine and took a walk along the beach. They returned to their apartment, but he made her wait outside while he prepared the scene.

She entered the apartment to candlelight and roses. He told her how special she was and asked her to read each note aloud. She read them all and tears were in her eyes. While she was reading the second last note, he took the platinum princess cut diamond ring from a hiding spot in the living room.

He handed her the the last note, but then stopped her. He said he wanted to read this one aloud. He got down on one knee and read the note. It said “Will You Marry Me?”

She said YES right away and kept all the notes as a memory. What a romantic idea – it makes me get goose bumps every time!
